About Us

Hello! I am Michelle, the owner here at Our Yarn Studio. I've been asked a million times why would I want to open a yarn store in Warner Robins, so I thought I'd answer that here.

I learned to knit and crochet in college from a kit I picked up at a department store. I found peace in the repeating stitches, happiness in finished projects, and excitement in finding a new skein of yarn to bring home or to squish in store. This quickly became my go-to outlet for my crafting energy.

I returned to middle Georgia after college and realized there wasn't a place for crafters to get together in our community. There wasn't a place for people to learn new skills or upgrade their crafting skills. There wasn't a place for people to find less known brands, hand-dyed yarns, or small batch supplies. I wished that we had a place like that.

Fast forward 11 years to 2021 and I was still in middle Georgia. I was still wishing we had "a place like that". Then I read a book titled The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs. I saw a version of "a place like that". I began to pray about this old idea that I just couldn't let go of.

My husband and I worked through several "business plans" (read: spreadsheets with made up numbers) to find what could work. We sought the advice of anyone willing to give it. We worked with the Small Business Development Center and created a real business plan and realized this could really work.

Then, with all the confidence we could muster, we created Our Yarn Studio. Now we have "a place like that". We have a place for crafters to come together and work on projects and enjoy community. We have classes for people to learn new skills. We have new brands for our community along with some old favorites. We have a place for local artisans to showcase their skills and share their lovingly hand-made items.
